Last night, our album "Odyssey Number Five" was voted in as the #1 Hottest 100 Australian Album Of All Time!

The recent floods that ravaged Queensland have saddened and shocked us all. Our sympathies go out to everyone that has been affected and our condolences to those who have lost loved ones. The Powderfinger bandroom at Newstead went under, along with many of our wonderful neighbours' businesses and we thank everyone who came to lend a hand in the clean up.

That's it, folks! The sun has finally set on Powderfinger's career. After a massive two-and-a-half months on the road, 34 shows, 21 cities and 300,000 punters, the "Sunsets" Farewell Tour has come to a close after Saturday's final Brisbane show. Those of you that made it along will know that the show was more a celebration of the band's career and a very fun party!

While the band are now heading off in different directions, we do have plenty of exciting goodies that should fill the Powderfinger-shaped hole in your heart for the next few months at least.

Due to an unforeseen change in ferry running times across Bass Strait we need to move the Hobart performance from Tuesday September 14th to one day earlier on Monday September 13th. This will ensure that all our Tassie fans see the exact production that is touring on the mainland and that all five of our semi- trailers can make it across the waters in time. Band and management are extremely sorry if this has caused any inconvenience, but we have a great show planned and we really want you to see it! Venue details and line up remain unchanged. Powderfinger are pleased to announce that in addition to the fourteen shows which sold out last Friday, three further Queensland shows – Caloundra, Cairns and Toowoomba – have now also sold out.

This brings the total number of sold out shows on the Sunsets Farewell tour to seventeen, with over 175,000 tickets sold nationally.

The response to the tour so far as been overwhelming and band and promoters have been inundated with requests for additional shows and tickets and they are currently looking into options to add further dates to the tour.

It is anticipated that further announcements will be made later this week.

It's with great disappointment that we have to announce the postponement of our UK and Ireland tour, due to start tomorrow in Dublin. The video was filmed in Chiang Mai, Thailand, at the Yi Peng festival (or Festival of Lights). People light a lantern that is kind of like a personal hot air balloon and set it adrift, sending all their troubles away. It was an amazing experience to see your own lantern float away with thousands of others, and you could follow it until it looked like a star. Saddle up 'Finger fans, it's the news you've been waiting for! This coming Monday 22nd June Powderfinger are returning to the studio! Taking the helms for this album will again be Nick DiDia, responsible for Internationalist, Odyssey Number 5 and Vulture St! After recording their last album Dream Days at the Hotel Existence in LA, the band are looking forward to recording the new album in Australia. While we don't have a release date as yet, you can expect to see the new album out at the end of 2009.
